SOCIAL MEDIA MIXER RALLIES MANITOBANS TO SIGN UP FOR LIFE

A free, catered event hosted by Cruise Media Group and Transplant Manitoba – Gift of Life program will take place on Wednesday, April 24,  2013 from 5-7pm at Fox and Fiddle on 456 Main Street to raise awareness during National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week.

The event will feature wine tastings, hors d'oeuvres and transplant recipient special guests. All those attending are asked to register their intent to donate online at signupforlife.ca and share the call to action, Sign Up For Life Manitoba! on social media to generate awareness for the online registry.

“Transplants save lives, give hope and provide others with renewed life” says Ryan Cruise, CEO of Cruise Media Group. “Registering online at signupforlife.ca is simple and so is spreading the word for this great cause. We want to get the city’s top social media influencers together to help share this video and in turn the Sign Up For Life message of hope and help”

SignUpForLife.ca is an online registry developed by Transplant Manitoba – Gift of Life program, Tissue Bank of Manitoba and the province’s Manitoba eHealth, where Manitobans can register their intent to be organ and/or tissue donors after death. Previously, Manitobans signed their driver’s licence or a separate paper card. The new online system means that a donation decision never gets lost, left behind or worn out. The information is available 24/7 to donation physicians world-wide.

Transplant Manitoba Gift of Life Program and SIgnUpForLife.ca Communications Coordinator, Jillian Barrott indicates, “Less than 1% of Manitobans are currently registered on SignUpForLife.ca. With 7,800 registered, more people take in a Jets game on a single night. We know Manitobans support organ donation, we just need them to go online, register that information and share it with their loved ones.”
