Gift of Life Flag

Every year in Manitoba approximately 30 people become organ donors through deceased or living donation. To recognize this remarkable gift and the decision to donate life-saving organs, a specially designed flag honouring those individuals will fly at HSC Winnipeg on the corner of Sherbrook St and McDermot Ave, and at St. Boniface Hospital at the main entrance on Taché Avenue, for two days.

The flag is only raised after a donation opportunity has taken place. The flag is meant as a tribute to the courage, compassion and generosity of living and deceased donors, and serves as a signal to the community of the gift that has been offered to others in need.

To share the meaning behind the Gift of Life flag and why it flies, please view this video. We are truly grateful for the people who worked with us to produce this video. Thank you for sharing your stories and for supporting awareness of organ donation. If organ and tissue donation is something you support, please talk with your family and register your donation decision using Manitoba's online donor registry, signupforlife.ca.
